Reintroducing The Progress Network
Many readers know that I am the founder of The Progress Network (TPN), a media organization and hub for positive news — from healthcare advancements and technological breakthroughs to societal betterment and political headway.
I’m very proud of that work, which is why I’m interrupting my regular dose of edgy optimism to formally welcome TPN to Substack and introduce the brand to those unfamiliar with it. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. All of TPN’s content is readily available for free.
TPN is making this move because Substack offers the best opportunity to reach even more people than we already have and to collaborate with like-minded writers and organizations. In fact, many of TPN’s 100+ members already publish on the platform.
Led by executive director Emma Varvaloucas, TPN has for more than five years promoted the viewpoint that there is still plenty of reason for hope.
Today, tens of thousands of people each week read TPN’s flagship newsletter, What Could Go Right?, and listen to the award-winning What Could Go Right? podcast. More than 150,000 people follow us on social media, while millions have seen our videos on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. A lens that favors concord over crisis, analysis over alarm, and data over disaster was exactly what the world needed when we started, and that remains the case today.
We’ve managed to do what we do with a small full-time team, an array of wonderful third-party vendors, and a modest budget.
On that note: If you want to help the cause, one way to do that is to upgrade your subscription to The Edgy Optimist. All money gained from that will go to support TPN.

We love the Progress Network!!!!
